FEILDING 11. V. PALMERSTON 11. The above fixture eventuated last Saturday, and after the hardest contested game I dare say eitber team bas had for the junior cup's. Palmerston scored a win by 9 points to 7. Palmerston kicked off and were immediately pnt on the defensive, but were relieved after a while by the splendid play of their backs. Play was now of a give and take character, each side being at times near scoring. Feilding forwards combining gradually worked the ball into Palmerston's quarters where after a lot of uninteresting line play I. Watts scored for Feilding. Strachan placing a goal. This roused Palmerston up and the ball was carried to Feilding's quarters where Jackson secured a mark. A pot was made at goal and Palmerston forwards by smatt following (and bad play of Feilding) touched down a goal resulting from the kick. A very little while and the whistle blewi In the second spell Feilding worked like veritable Britons, and Palmerston were on their mettle to keep their line, dear, bnt the ball being moiled by one of Feilding's backs enabled Palmerston to carry play to Feilding's 25. Here Jackson. from. a pass potted a goad for Palmerston AFeilding now Were on their mettleland in spite of Palmerstqn?* good baok play, Keen from a splendid rush scored-, the kick at goal not however adding the major points. For the rest of the spell play was tip and down the field, Feilding's backs; constantly getting them into trouble, and causing their forwards heaps of extra work. The game was a very time>one to the spectators, the play being continually among the forwards. I wish Feilding's halves could be impressed: with the. facsfc that it is one of their .prinoipal .duties to pass baok, but, bar Parr, no one. eyer saw a single pass come from either Watts or Say well ; although they both played a good dribbling game, it is that old selfish style of play that completely cripples the three-quarters. All our forward?. ipJ a ye<l remarkably well ; the halves playing a good dribbling game, R. Parr, also doing some fair passing, and all the 'lhree* quarters and full back being decidedly "off colour. " Goal Post. Hunterville beat the Kea. Kahas at Hunterville on Saturday lut by 9 points to nil. Rangitikei defeated Marton II by four points to two. The Senior Cup match between Wanganui and Turakina on Saturday last ended by a draw. The match at Palmerston between the Pi -ales and Awahuri was won by the latter by. three points to nil.- "'■' The following team will represent Ban* giti kei next Satnrday in their match against the Feildmg ll' at Feilding :— Backs;: Lilley, Fletcher, Curtice, Lucena, J. and R.
