Birmingham Notes
♦- [from our own correspondent. ] • As the winter is now on and the long evenings have set in I think it is high time the "Kiwitea Mutuallinprdvement Society" commenced business. Having gone through the preliminary business the officials will be prepared to make the society even a greater success than the last season. I would suggest that ladies be admitted as hon. members without payment. As it is a partly social movement, unsectarian and non political, there need be no holding back from any person joining or helping this laudable society. I see you Feilding people are to have Mr Snazelle in your town on Monday next. I strongly, ad vise all who love and can appreciate a good song, yarn, and instructive information to visit the entertainment. Haying known the performer's father in the " Old Country " and heard the son sing at the village of Sydenham's noted hotel " The Fox and Hounds " (although the professor does not know the writer) I have much pleasure in wishing an " old Sydenhamite " every success in his undertaking at the antipodes of his home. As the Wesleyan body will shortly have a building of their own, the Towu Hall, I suppose, will be to let on Sundays (as the rent I hear is only 2s 6d for Sunday use) there will be a good opening for some other religious body to hire the hall for those purposes. It would be a grand opening for the Salvation Army as we have no music on Sunday.
