[PKB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] London, May 8. The wool sales commence here on the 17th Twenty 'eight thousand bales have been catalogued, two hundred of which are from Australia. The Wellington branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on toe produce market for- the week ending Wednesday. sth May, as follows : — Wool— Consignments of odd lots reaching ns are readily disposed of at prices, equivalent to those ruling last week We are to-day in receipt of the following telegram with regard to merino super fine greasy and medium crossbred, and course §TBisy and scoured crossbred have advanced f d per lb. Greasy merino medium and inferior and fine scoured crossbred hare advanced £d to Id per lb. Washed super medium and inferior merino, and scoured medium and inferior merino, hare advanced id per lb since close of last sales. The total quantity sold during the past sales is 336,0u0 bales, of which 212,000 have been taken for the Continent, and 11.000 for America . It is estimated that 20,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. Oats — There is do material alteration in prices to chronicle, good heavy feed is selling at about Is 10J, fair feed Is 7d to Is9d, sacks extra. Wheat— The market for fowl wheat is gradually on the decline, and good whole fowls' is changing hands at 3s per bushel, broken 2s 6d to 2s 9d, sacks extra. Grass Seeds— There is practically nothing doing, any small parcels enquired for changing hands at last week's quotations. Cocksfoot seed is still coming in for shipment. Frozen Meat. — The most recent cable to hand from our London office notifies an improvement in the prices of lamb, which is now quoted at 6d per lb. There is a better enquiry for New Zealand beef, and mutton still continues firm. The manager for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) has received the following cable message from London, dated the 6th inst. : — Tallow — There is rather bet» ter demand, but quotations are unchanged F'ozen Meat — The beef market is firmer. Fore and hind-quarters are worth respectively 3|d and 4£d per lb. "Other quota tions are unchanged since last telegram, Hemp — Market rery weak. Medium is worth £20 per ton.
