[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. J London, April 30. The apples, ex Duke of Westminster, are selling from 6s to lis per case ; Auck. land evaporate apples from 36s to 40s per cwt ; best American from 32s to 36s per cwt. The wool market is rather weak, and foreign purchases of tops are easier. May 1. Tallow is unchanged. The English wheat market is strong, and prices are unchanged, the Continental dull, and the American depressed. The Wellington branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the produce markets for the week ending Wednesday, 27th April, as follows : — Wool. — We are pleased to be able to report a further improvement iv the Home market during the past week ; fine scoured, medium, and coarse greasy crossbred have advanced £d per pound, with a firmer tone throughout. Consignments for local sale are chiefly odd lots of stragglers's wool. They, however, are readily placed at an advance on recent prices. Sheepskins. — The number disposed of during the week has been far short of requirement, and prices in sympathy with the improved state of the wool market are continuing firm. Green crossbred skins we have sold at prices ranging from 2s yd to 4s Id, accordiug to weight and quality, and country dry skins from 3d to 6d per pound. Tallow. — Locally there is a good demand, and all lots reaching us are quitted at satisfactory figures. We quote shipping lines, 20s to 235 ; inferior to good, 14s to 18s ; rough fat, 12s to 13s. Grain. — Oats — Large quantities are changing hands, but prices continue low ; good heavy feed is worth up to Is lOd ; fair feed, Is 7d to Is 9d. Wheat is in fair request, and prices remain unaltered, viz., 3s 6d to 3s 8d tor good whole fowls; inferior up to 3s. Feed barley, enquiry is limited at 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Grass Seeds.— Sowing is now practically over, and the demand is consequently falling off. We are still placing small lines of Toverty Bay ryegrass at from 6s to 6s 6d, and Southern at 4s. Consignments are now coming in freely for shipment to London. Frozen Meat. — Recent cables from London indicate the market as being in a somewhat unsettled state. Mutton, however, continues firm, the last cable quoting Canterbury at4gd. Beef — Hindquarter at preseut is worth 4d per lb, and lamb 5d per lb. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable message from their London office, dated 29th April. — Tallow— The market has a downward tendency. Good beef and fine mut ton tallow are worth respectively 25s 3d to 26s 6d per cwt. Frozen meat — The mutton market is uncluiusjed. The tone of the wool mnrket is firmer. Prime New Zenlaud lamb is worth, per carcase, 6d per lb. There is rather a belter demand for New Zealand beef. Forequart« ers are worth Jd per lb. Oilier quotations uuchanged since last telegram.
