Midland Road School
(from our own correspondent.) The annual meeting of householders for the purpose of electing a school committee for the ensuiug year, was held in Aratika schoolroom last Monday evening. The school was crowded. At 8 o'clock the election of a new committee was proceeded with, the following being proposed:—Messrs W. Bovd, G. Allerby, A. Goldfinch. B. Brown, D. Bell, F. Allerhy, S. 3ray. J. Allerby, and T. Curran. A poll was taken, when the following were elected: —Messrs G. Allerby, A. Goldfinch, F. Allerby, and S. Gray. Mr Goldfinch was elected chairman. The following is a precis of the retiring: committee's report: —" The present school being found unsuitable, steps had beeu taken to obtain a new one. A site had been purchased and fenced. The contract for tho building had been let by the Education Board and that day the timber had been brought on to the ground. The receipts for the year were: —£19 14s, and the expenditure, £19 7s 6ti leaving a balance of 6s 6d.
