The Chrysanthemum Show

The Manchester Horticultural Society did not score a success at thoir Chrysanthemum Show, which was held yesterday afternoon and evening. Owing to the unfavorable weather the exhibits were very few, there being only five exhibitors. The attendance was very small on both occasions, the takings at the door only amounting to about two pounds. In the evening the Feilding string band played a selection of pieces very nicely and somewhat relieved the dulness. What the exhibits lacked in number they made up in beauty, and they were well worthy of a visit. The following are the prize takers : — Class I : Pot Grown Plants. Three reflexed distinct varieties.— lst prize, ss, Mr B. Worsfold; 2nd, 2s 6d, Mr H. Worsfold. Class II : Cut Flowers. Collection of 24 named varieties, 1 of each sort.'-lsfc prize, 7s 6d, Mr C. Fitzherbert. t Twelve incurved separate varieties. — Ist prize, ss, Mr E. Worsfold. Twelve Japanese, separate varieties. — Ist prize, os, Mr E. Worsfold ; 2nd, 2s 6d Mr H. Worsfold. Six incurved, distinot yanehes.— lst prize, 38, Mr H. Worsfold; 2nd, 2s, Mr C. Fitzherhert. One incurred, 3 blooms of 1 variety.— Ist prize, 2s, Mr H. Worsfold. Six reflexed, distinct varieties. — Ist prize, 3s, Mr E. Worsfold ; 2nd, 2s, Mr H. Worsfold. Six Japanese, distinct varieties. — Ist prize, 3s, Mr C. Fitzherbert; 2nd, 2s, Mr E. Worsfold.
