Mass will be celebrated in Campbelltown next Sundny at 8 a.m., and at Feilding at 11 a.m. Letters of naturalisation have been issued to Christen Pctersen Jensen, laborer, of Feilding. A special general meeting of the Feildinjj Football Club will be held on Friday noxt at Mrs Oliver's Empire Hotel. Palmer's famous Musical Comedy Company will give a performance in the Assembly Rooms on Thursday evening. Everybody is going. Our readers are reminded of the Chry sanlhemum show to be held in the Assembly Rooms to-morrow afternoon and evening. Two men were driving down the hill known as " Dayies Hill," in the Waituna district, on Sunday last, when the sulky upset, injuring one of the occupants and doin& sundry damages to the vehicle. The injured man was driven into Feilding yesterday, where he consulted a medical man. Mr Clements, who was driving at the time, escaped unhurt. After a sensational trial lasting, several days the Bey Samuel J. Cotton, of Caraso, Carousb, Ireland, was found ■ guilty on March 29th of the manslaugh* J ler of a boy named Brown, and of charges of cruelty. Cotton is almost 70 years of age, and has been a Protestant minister for 45 years. He was in charge of an orphanage, and it was shown on his trial that he had ill-treated and starved the children. A fifteen -year- old negro girl was lynched at Sayyille, Ma., on 12th March, for attempting to poison a family of nine persons with " Emgh on Rats." It ap» pears that a coloured woman employee) about the house had offended her, and she proposed to revenge herself by killing everybody in sight. An unusual iucident happened in St. Mark's Church, Wellington, on Sunday last, which caused a little sensation among the congregation. The Hey R CofEey made reference in his sermon to the Rev Mr Grubb's recent mission ser* viceß in Wellington, and expressed iris J condemnation of the conduct of those members of the Church of England who had attended them. He it as strongly of opinion that by supposing such services they had been guilty of causing schism in the Church. On hearing these strictures a prominent member of the congregation, who had acted as one of the Rev Mr Grubb's committee, rose from bis seat in the middle of the church and walked slowly out.
