(FEE UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION}. Dunkdik, April 21. Mr Apollos Dale, railway station master at Port Chalmers, received in« juries this evening which resulted in his death. He appears to have proceeded i o get into a carriage, and had hold of | the stanchions when the train started, and he missed his footing and fell between the carriage and the platform. The carriage wheels passed over both his legs, which were shockingly mangled. Dale was put into the up tram and taken to the hospital, where both legs were amputated, but he died shortly afterwards. Deceased, who was a widower, leaves a family of seven children. Ho joined the service in Provincial days, and has been at the Port for many years. Waimate, April 21. Major Stewart, M.H.R., addressed a meeting of the electors here last night. At the ctose a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence was passed.
