Greasy merinos are £d lower than the rates ruling at the February sales. There is still excited competition tor all classes. April 7. At the wool sales foreigners are purchasing heavily, and prices are fully sus tamed. Wool continues to harden. Prices are now equal to the best rates obtained at the February series, and occasionally they hive been a trifle higher. The rise is due to an iraproroment in the demand from the Continent, especially France. Owing to the hot weather the butter market has collapsed. Danish has f nllen 10s, and Victorian, best factory, has dropped to from 96s to 98s per cwt. The New Zealand Loan and Mercan tile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated sth mst. : — Wool — The sales progress firmly. Since close of last sales super medium and inferior greasy merino, super greasy merino lambs and coarse greasy scoured crossbred are par to M per lb lower. Medium and fine preasr and fine scoured crossbred and medium and inferior greasy merino lambs are gd per lb lower. Scoured merino has declined Id per lb. Cross bred lambs— Market unchanged. Com petition by both Home and foreign buyers is active. The total quantities catalogued and withdrawn to date are 81.000 and 5000 bales respectively. '
