The Manchester Rifles will hold a company parade on Thursday next. Volunteer Parker, one of the most promising shots in the Manchester Rifles, had a nasty spill from his horse on Saturday. The competitions for classes A. B. and 0. will take place at the range tomorrow. Morniug squad at six, afternoon at 2 o'clock. Competitors must be on the ground before the first range is completed or they will aofe be eligible to compete. The above competitions will decide the winners of 6. and C. medals. The Taranaki Herald says : — With reference to the " bugle " with which Bugler Allen, 58th Kegiment, sounded the alarm during the fight with the Natives at the Hutt in 1846, Mr Free informs us that he believes a detachment of the 65th Regiment, under Captain Newham, found it and six bayonets in a pah at Horokiwi, but he does not know what became of the bugle afterwards.
