The Land Hunger

On Tuesday next Messrs T. Kennedy Macdonald & Co. will hold a sale of land, being part of the Manawatu Company's property. If we may judge by the number of applications we have had for plans, the attendance of buyers from this district should be large, and the sale should prove a great success. A considerable number of intending purchasers have already visited the several blocks, and others will go down on Monday. The allotment of sections in the Oroua Coal Creek Block will be made by the Crown Lands Commissioner on Wednesday, the 23rd inst., and the number of applicants for the yarious areas is already very large, in fact there is quite a rush for this land, and we feel certain that the total acreage applied for will exceed the quantity available tenfold. The land to be allotted by the Commissioners on the 25th instant is well situated in the Waimarino, up the Wanganui river, and is also likely to be keenly competed for, but not to the extent of the Coal Greek Block.

Cobhe and Darragh have purchased a big lot of wholesale samples of towels, umbrellas, carpets, corsets, underskirts, pants, nnd hosiery. These goods have been bought at a big discount off regular prices, and will be sold cheap for cash. —Advt.
