"WHERE ARE THOSE HOUNDS ?"
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir—When the Feilding Hunt Club amalgamated with some gentlemen in Wellington who wished to have hounds I think it was agreed the hounds should hunt in this district occasionally. The case, I believe, is briefly this: There being some gentlemen in this district who , were fond of sport, hounds were procured and hunted in this and neighboring districts for two seasons. Overtures were made from Wellington to amalgamate with a club there, which club" were sadly in need of hounds. Oar club thought they would better themselves by joining with a wealthy club, and so the hounds were sent to head quarters (Wellington). Last season the Wellington branch of the II United Club " thought themselves so much the owners of the hounds that they dictated terms to the real owners in this district, who had to be content with one visit of the hounds. When the amalgamation took place it was said in. the Feilding Star that this district would see very little hunting, and now many huntsmen feel very sore and think they . have been " had " by then; affectionate friends of the Empire City. Before another season is over 1 think those interested here should endeavour to get some of the hounds back and not part with them again unless they are paid for. Had the hounds belonged to in the first place I don't think that club would have been so liberal as to give them to another club. I am, &c, Drag Hunt.
