The Independence Beige asserts that the British iVavy is terribly inferior to that of France, as are also the const defences and torpedoes. Calcutta, March 4. Three hundred prisoners confined in gaol sit Ayah, in Burroah, revolted and killed their European gaoler nnd wounded several of the warders. The prisoners then made their escape, but were pursued by a party of volunteers, who killed the ringleader of the revolt, and rec.ipturcd others, thus preventing what is believed to have been an attempt at a general massacre of the residents.
