Urenui

(from oub own correspondent.) On the 24th instant, at Urenui, Miss Halconibe was married to Mr Wilfred Taylor, of the " Ridges," near Marton. The ceremony was performed by tbe Venerable Archdeacon Govett, assisted by the the Rev. F. Baker. Tbe wedding took place at the pretty little church (St. Paul's) at Urenui. The village was quite en fete upon the occasion. Flags were flying in all directions and a garland of flowers and evergreens was stretched across the street from Mr Piggotfc's hotel to Mr Bowe's store. Matting was laid from the entrance gate into the church grounds to the church door. Immediately inside the gate the Sunday School children were drawn up in two lines, the girls being dressed in white, and sung very nicely a hymn as the bridal party walked up towards the church. After the ceremony the children strewed the pathway with flowers. About 50 of Mr and Mrs Halcombe's friends who had come from all parts to do honor to the happy ocoasion, assembled at Mr Halcombe's residence (Ferngroye) and did ample justice to a splendid breakfast. The happy couple left for their home in the afternoon, followed by a shower of rice, old slippers, and good wishes. It must have been very gratifying to Mr and Mrs Halcombe; to fiud how popular they are with the Urenui people, as shown by the kindly interest displayed in connection with the happy proceedings. It is needless to add that numerous and handsome wedding gifts were presented to the bride by her many friends. Miss Isabel Halcombe (sister of the bride) and Miss Frances Cornwall acted as bridesmaids, and Mr Kevern as best man.
