Wellington Farmers' Alliance
+ A meeting of the directors of the above was held at the company's new premises, Wellington, on Friday last, being the first meeting held since business was commenced. There were present — Mr Martin (chairman) and Messrs Baker, Phillips, Carman, and Robinson. A report by the the chairman on the business done and the general management and prospects of the company was read. The report pointed out that the business done was highly satisfactory, and compared favorably with other kindred institutions in their initial stage, A fair amount of consignments of wool, grain, and dairy produce had been received and disposed of at full pricea. Orders for implements and stores had been attended to. Several suggestions in the management were made and considered. It was proposed that, with a view of removing any misapprehension as to the working of the association, the manager should visit the various country districts to meet the shareholders and others interested, and explain in a practical way the objects of the alliance. The directors agreed to assist the manager in this direction in the districts in which they reside. A number of applications for shares were considered and allotted. It was agreed thafc a second call of 5s per share be made, payable on 19th March next, It was also agreed to accept of deposits afc call and allow interest! at the rate of 5 percent. Certain accounts were passed and ordered to be paid. i
