Proposed Visit of the Premier

i * A meeting with the above object in I view was held in the Assembly Rooms on ! Tuesday night. There were about thirty persons present. Mr Peter Thomson waa voted to the chair, and explained that at the suggestion of several citizens Mr Reading had written to the Hon. Mr Ballance, Premier, asking if he would consent to give an address in Feilding if invited by a formal requisition. The folj lowing reply was received by telegram : — " Many thanks for your kind invitation to address the electors. lam going to visit Palmerßton North shortly and speak there, so I think it would be better to defer 6peakin? at Feilding xmtil a little later on, when it will give me great pleasure to do so." Proposed by Mr T. R. Chamberlain, seconded by Mr J. C. Morey. That this meeting has great pleasttre in learning that the Hon. the Premier is favorable to visiting Feilding for the purpose of addressing the electors, and that he be formally invited by requisition to do so at his earliest opportunity. — Carried. Proposed by Mr J. C. Thompson, seconded by Mr' F. McLeod, That the proposed yisit of the Premier be in the interests of all electors of whatever opinion, and that the invitation have no political significance. — Carried. Proposed by Mr S. J. Thompson, seconded by Mr Blackmore, That on the occasion of the Premier's yisit His Worship the Mayor be requested to preside at the meeting. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reading, seconded by Mr J. C. Thompson, That the following gentlemen be appointed a committee, with power to add to their number, to complete and carry out all necessary preparations for the Premier's visit : — Messrs J. C. Thompson, S. J. Thompson, J. C. Morey, P. Thomson, T. R. Chamberlain, Cobbe, McLeod, Stevens, J. Smith, C. H. Hosking, R. L. Parr, Hopkins, J. Scott, J. F. Donnelly, and the mover. — Carried. The meeting then went into committee.
