The Manchester Rifles held their annual general meeting at the Barracks on on Thursday night. Lieut. Kirton presided. He read the report and balancesheet for the past year. The balancesheet showed the following : —

Eesolved, That the bugler be paid 2s for his attendance at each drill or parade. Eesolyed, That a permanent shooting committee be appointed, to consist of the officers ex ojicio, Sergt. Evans, Vols. Hopkins, Stevens, Basse fcfc, Petherick and Scott. Vol. Hopkins was elected secretary of this committee. Arrangements for matches will be made without delay. Kesolved, That company parades be held not less than once in each four weeks. ; - The report and balanoe sheet, were adopted. Lieut. Kirton congratulated the corps on its finanoial position and on the fact that such good recruits were joining the; ranks. Already they had proved their mettle as shots, and the newly-elected shooting committee fully intended to find them plenty of work to do in that respect. The Sergt-Major then took the men in hand and gave them some smart drill in manual exercise and company drill.
