__« The monthly meeting of the Education Board was cpnanienced yesterday. Messrs Sanson (in the chair), Bridge, Hurley, and Beckett were present. Ashurst. — Miss Prendergast was appointed assistant mistress. Foxton. — For the assistantship at this school it was decided to Bend on Miss Ballantyne's name with any others available. Re-appointment. — MI3S Helen Fhyn having applied for re-appointment, her name was placed on the list. Karere. — For the vacancy at this school it was resolved to forward the names of Messrs A. W. Williamson and A. Matheson. Ashv>"st. — Miss M. McGonagle was appointed to act as pupil teacher at Ashurst, pending the arrival of tho assistant. Stoney Creek. — Two letters from this committee were referred to Messrs Sanson and Fry to report upon, and it was resolved that a vote of thanks be offered to Messrs Newdick, Wangh, Sly, and his two sons for their exertions in saving the buildings at Stoney Creek during the late bush fires,
