Le Figaro predicts a European war, and discusses the attitude of the Powers. Behlin, January 9. The German press assert that the Triple Alliance will overcome the dan* gera. Some, January 9. The Italian press eulogise English rule in Egypt, and state that the death of the Khedive will not affect the position. Caibo, January 9. Two hundred thousand people quietly witnessed the Khedive's funeral. Military officers, diplomatists, officials, and women were among the mourners. A portion of the English Mediterranean squadron has been ordered to Alexandria to salute Prince Abbas. January 10. It 13 reported that the Khedive was killed by an overdose of morphine.
