I By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright (PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, November 29. Mr Chamberlain denies the statement that he is joining the Tories. In an article in the Anti-Jacobin, the Hon. J. W. Forfcescue says it is hard to think that Sir Henry Tarkes' sudden retirement was not connected with the exposure of the financial maladministration of the Government. Victoria, he declared, was attempting to maintain her credit by the simple process of cabling Home Lord Hopetoun's puffs of the colony. In the course of a speech Mr Gladstone said the colonies enjoy more privilegea than Ireland asks. He eulogised the profit-sharing system, and expressed his pleasure that the prospect of the nest political fight had aroused the Tories. November 30. The police dispersed a meeting of Socialists at Chelsea, and arrested several of those present. In his address at Glasgow, Mr Balfour said that firm, liberal, and kindly government would be slow, but certain to cure Ireland. The colonial visitors at present in London express indignation at the attack made by Lord Carrington in his speech at Bristol on Lord Knutsford, Secretary of State for the Colonies. Paris, November 30. It is rumoured that Milan, ex-King of Servia, has been appointed commander of the Persian cavalry. The 800 miners who seized the mine at Riyede Gier, in the department of Loire, threaten to kill those who attempt to expel them. Sydney, November 30. The Monowai took J275.000 of specie.
