<» [united press association. I Palmerston North, This Day. A young man named John Curran was run over by a dray last evening and little hopes are entertained of liis recovery. His home is at Greyiaouth. Cjihistchubch, November 22. About noon to-day a woman was found 1 dead in Hagloy Park. Size was apparently about 35 years of age and wore two wed dint; rings and a keeper. There was no sign of violence, and she is not yet identified. Tattbanga, November 22. A woman named Jones was found dead yesterday at the bcttom of the embinkmenl in Eighth Avenue among some , briars. Her neck was broken. She had been missing since Thursday, At the inquest held yesterday afternoon the verdict was accidental death. Oamaeo 1 , November 22. A boy named Goorge met with an accident at the A. and I. Show on Friday. He wns passing behind a shooting gallery when a bullet passrd through the shield and lodged in hii stomach just below the ribs. He was taken to the hospital when an operation was performed for the extraction of the bullet. The boy has since died. The destructive fire at Kurow on Saturday night completely destroyed the principal block of buildings in the township. The total damage was estimated at £5000, of which upwards of £3000 was covered by insurance. CnßisTcnuHCH, Noyember 23. At the Supreme Court this morning John Bassetfc, charged with attempting to commit suicide by hanging, pleaded guilty and said he was losing his eyesight and getting old, and did not know what he had better do, The Crown Prosecutor said the prisoner had been in the colony thirty years, and bore an unblemished character.
