Freemasonry at Hunterville
The dedication -, and- consecration of lodge Bangitira, trader charter ,from the Grand Lodge of New-Zealand; took place on Friday, ■ the ' 30tIi; r October 7 JLB9I. .There was a .large 'gathering* of "present to assist in. the ceremony*. P.M. Bro. H. J. Williams, Grand.Superintendent of the .Wellington. "District," was 'the officiating'officer," assisted 4>y" F.M.-Bro. ' D. H. Macartb.hr, D.G.M., and P.M. 1 Bro. E. T. GillonpP.D.G.M. The Grand Lodge officers were announced,' and re- > ceived with the usual -honors, who consisted of P.M.s Bros. Walkley, Grand Steward, acting as G.S.'W. ; Walter A. L. 'Bailey, G.J.W.; W. G. Haybittle, GfoD.; E. Brandon, G.S.J).; W. rH. <, Smith, Grand Secretary! H; Tyer, l G.J.G ; A. Jack, G.D.C. The lodge being tyled the impressive ceremony of constitution and consecration was performed in a very impressive manner by the Grand Bnperintendant,^Bro. Williams. 'During the ceremony a very eloquent address was given by Bro. E. T. Gillon, and , an instrumental selection was played by the Acting-Grand Organist, Bro. A. Drew; and. a solo " If With All Your Hearts " (Elijah) was snng by Bro. W. H. Warren. The constituting. and consecrating ceremony having been concluded the W.M. elect Bro. W. Thompson was presented, duly obligated, and installed into the chair of K.S. The Board of Installed Masters were : Bros. Gillon, Macarthur, Mayo, Haybittle, Bray, Baileyi Thomson, Bailey, Brown, Forrest, Walkeley, Sutton, Meyrick, Jack, and Smith. The working tools of the several degrees were . presented by the Grand Superintendent, Bro. Williams. The * fallowing 1 officers _£- were invested by the 'Grand Superintendent:— J.P.M". Bro. W. - Forrest r~ Bro. S. Stacey, 'SrW.; Bro. W. FJpyd, J.W. ; Brother W., H. > Mahoney, • Secretary ; Bi 0- A. Da'lziel, Treasurer ; Bro D. Mackay, D.M. ; BroJ. Ma'gee, S. D. ; Bro D. Eobb, J. D>, Bro Watt, J..G. The address 'to the W.M. 1 was giyen by Bro Smith', to the Wardens by Bro Williams, to the officeis and brethren by Bro E. T. Gillon. the evening seyen candidates were- .balloted ior and approved and two proposed^ Bro A. Jack, was D.O. and Bib Drow wa"s'organist. The ( lodge being closed the brethren adjourned to the-Argjle Hall, wtere a sumptuous .banquet had been prepared by host Bro Floyd. _ After the 'good things had been disposed of, the following toasts were proposed' and r responded to •' The Queen and the Craft " "Grand Lodge" of New Zealand" responded to <by 'Bro D. H. .Macarthur, D.G.M., N.Z,C, who in course of ( his remarks said that .he was pleased to be present, but owing to ill health he was unable to take an active , r par.tgin the con- . stitutmg the t Lodged ,Tnp 'next ,toast proposed was "''Officers "and Members' 'of the " Sa'ngitara 1 -Lodge/ -proposed" by P.M. Bro William Bailey, which was responded to bj the W.M. Bro W. ThompßOtt. Jjr The . next -toast was proposed '"by r P'.lll'.' Bro W. Forrest that of tfie " Grand Superintendent who replied that he had to apologise for" the absence of Bro Gillon at the banquet through .illness, he.very much regretted.. _He gave a resume of . . the position of the 7 G,L. and said that there were '20 lodges" i belonging' to his district ; the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has 72 lodges/ consisting of 3000 Masons, The toast of* the "Visiting > Brethren " was proposed and responded to by the W.M. of the Feilding JDodge, N.Z.0., Bro W. Bailey. The other 1 oasta were " Sister Constitutions " '• Visitors " and " Tyler.'' • - ' ? ; .
