I Glorious weather we had for the holiday seekers on Wednesday last, and many hundreds came up < from Palmerston by road and rail to the picnic held in the truly beautiful reserye opposite Mr Grammar's Hotel: The . Fire Brigade .Band was in attendance and played excellent music which was much 'appreciated. The usual pastimes were indulged in, drop'the handkerchief, or more properly " Kiss in the ring " being by far the most fayoured. The Palmerstbn Mayor, Mr Snelson, won the Old Man's race amidst loud cheers.' The officers carried out their duties most energetically.' A cricket match , was -played on^he^- , same day between the PalmerstonMituala and a local teamj resulting in a win for the visitors by 53 runs. - A good deal of interest' is being taken in the formation of a good club'here and it is to be hoped as many as are able will join iv order to get a- good team.
