Indignation Meeting at Marton

A large and influential meeting was held at Martou last night to protest; against the action of the Auckland Railway Association seeking to divert' 'the: balance of the North Island Trunk railway loan, to the Stratford route. Mr J. W. Marshall, chairman of the . County Council presided. The meeting was ad-: dressed by D. H. Macarthur, and J. Gv Wilson, M.H.E.'s., John Stevens, and; others, who all spoke in condemnation of the position taken up by a section of the Auckland people, and showed the Central route was the best for the Colony. The seyeral resolutions affirming this view were carried unanimously.
