Mr London gave an exhibition., of views with the Majic Lautern which was thoroughly enjoyed, especially that view'which gave the reflection of the skeleton leaves of the native shrubs, and the live spiders.. There -was no ecarcity^of the fairer, sex as all ' tho invitations- issued were^ accepted^ The songs given during ,the evening were certainly about the, average heard in many otthe largertownshfps, and the song "Dear Little ' Jessie, "-by Miss London and ".Flora Bell- to] Mrs. Oaborne, especially bo. » The songs- given, by Messrs Bennett,' Cummerfield, Knight,. Potts, and Miller were all-'woll rendered and woll received.. "The Bachelors Cake'/ was made* by- the single men, and was duly cot by a young ]adj*from Binning* ham, bat before it was- disintegrated 'tb,e assistance of a gentleman .with a tomahawk had to be called in. >Tbe cake was - duly"consumed, and lam ,hap?y to state that no eviLconsequencos followed) as no _ * doubt the excellent confectionery iupphed Mr Anjon acted as agood and sufficient ■i antidote.
