Tho Manchester Bides paraded on Thursday night .whon 39 of all ranks were present. Lieut. Kirton, presented efficiency badges to Sorgts. Bilderbeck, Evans, Fowles, Corporals Collins aud Milson, Vols. Heuson, Green, Clerk, Bellve, Belfit, Porthouse. After parade a meeting for tho election of an officer to succeed Captain Pleasants, resigned, was held, but no choice was made, and the election is therefore postponed sine dil. The Hon. Mr Seddon, tho Minister for Di-fenee, in a speech made atNelson when inspecting tho local volunteers, said it had been resolved by the Government to continuo tho present rate of capitation for three years. There will bo no Easter Encanipmeuts next year, but it is intended to mass the Volunteers round each of the four defended ports, and organise manoeuvres of which the Auxiliary Squadron can tako part.
