» — (per press association.) Christchtjrch, October 7. The Achray -Estate, Amuri district, has been sold to Mr Harrison Davis. It comprises 18,000 acres of freehold land. Fourteen thousand crossbred sheep go with it. The price is understood to be between forty and fifty thousand pounds. Paliierston N., October 7. A man named John Wallace fell off the train, while drunk, between Ashurst and Palmerston, but sustained no injury beyond a sprained ankle. He was convicted for drunkenness at the Police Court this morning. Wanganui, October 7. Caroline Peyman was charged at the Supreme Court this morning with the murder of Emily Kate Spicer, and pleaded not guilty. A. J. Parsons, W. Kennard, Henry Charles Meehan (to whom deceased was engaged), and Drs Innes, Connolly and Earle w°re ex " amined, their evidence being identical with that given by them at the coroner's inquest, and already published. The Court adjourned at 5.30, leaving the case for the prosecution not much more than half finished. Mr Fitzherbert is for the Crown, and Mr David Hogg for the prisoner. Wellington, This Day. Great preparations are being made to celebrate the Jubilee of the Wesleyan Church Sunday School next Sunday. The school is the first European school established in the colony and has at present over 800 scholars, taught by nearly 50 teachers. Auckland, This Day. * At the Supreme Court to-day, Essie and Elizabeth Beazly were committed for trial for concealment of birth. W. V. Bindon for haying an illicit still in his possession was fined £15.
