Lieutenant Shearer's Medal
_ «. The conditions for the second competition for Lieut. Shearer's medal, to be competed for by members of the Feilding Fire Brigade, are as follows :— Engine to be placed on 2 pl.mks 20ft long, in posi tion in readiness for horses to be attached, having pole and swing-bars in place, all lids closed, caps on, and lever brake on. Competitors ttf stand 15yds from engine, run to engine and take engine whole length of planks (which will be on a slight decline), stopping at a given place 10ft from planks, take out pole, throw off swing-bars, lock carriage, .throw out levers, take off suction cap and fix one length of auction hose, knock off delivery cap on near side of engine, couple and run out 50ft length of hose and fix branch, return to engine, take off lever brake and strike buffers. Time to be taken from blow of whistle, to strike of buffers. Competition to be run under Association rules, copies of which can be seen by applying to tho captain or secretary. Fines as per Association rules.
