Wandsworth has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Carbine has been knocked out in the i betting for the Melbourne Cup, and is now quoted at 100 to 2. It may be considered doubtful, therefore, if the champion will go to the post for this great event. His stable companion Megaphone is favorite, and the best price obtainable about the son of Newbold is 100 to 10. " Trident " writes : — As far as I can ascertain Megaphone has won eight races exclusive of his two-year-old performances, at which age he was only beaten once, but have no record of how many races the son of Newhold won at that age."
