A meeting of this Association was held in their room last night when the scheme was adyanced a step nearer to its bein.fr brought into working order. A code of rules drawn up by a committee appointed for that purpose, was received and dealt with. These rules contained regulations for the acceptance of members and the general conduct of business. Mr W. Oorry was appointed President and Messrs Gould and J. 0. Thompson, vice-Presi-dents. A committee was formed to take immediate steps to furnish the room with the necessary conveniences which will include chess and draughts? _It is also intended that the room shall be used on Sundajs for religious purposes in such a manner as to benefit the young men of the district, as well as the members. There is ample scope for such work judging by the numbers of young men who are seen loitering in the town every Sunday, many of whom are only visitors for the day. The assistance of all well wishers is earnestly solicited, m the way of contribution of periodicals and papers, also gifts of books, which will be gladly accepted by the committee, or the secretary, Mr John Bleakley.
