♦' Fergusson Street, Feilding, September 22nd, 1891. "To the President, Vice - President and the late Members of the Committee of the Feilding Jockey Club. " Gentlemen, — " The receipt of your letter of the 3rd instant has afforded me sincere pleasure, and I beg to thank you most heartily for the kind manner in which you have been pleased to express your appreciation of my services while Secretary of the Club. " Although I myself feel that I did no more than was my duty as an officer of the Club yet it is none the less gratifying to learn that "whatever I may have done has been so well appreciated. "It was not indeed without a feeling of regret that I was induced to resign my appointment, but still I felt that as my own business was requiring so much of my attention I could no longer, without neglecting the same, continue to serve the Club as faithfully as I could wish ; however, a o since my resignation the members of the club have been pleased to elect me to represent them as a Steward and Oommitteeman I trust that I may still be able to render them useful service. " I am, " Gentlemen, " Obediently Yours, " W. A. Sandilands."
