Halcombe Town Board
* The ordinary meeting of the above was held on Tuesday last. Present— Mr J. Graves (chairman), Messrs Bell, .Bradbury, Fanthorpe and Williams, Commissioners. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From Constable Tuohy with account of expenses incurred on behalf of John Noble. From Mr B. Lmton asking permission to erect a yerandah. From H. Palensky requesting* the Board to put in a culvert near his residence. The Chairman reported having granted two weekly rations to Symonds. GENERAL. Besolved, That the action of the Chairman in granting aid to Symonds be approved of. Eesolved, That the application of Messrs Linton and Williams be granted subject to the Boards usual conditions. Eesolved, That the overseer put in culvert applied for by Mr Palensky, in the most suitable place. Some considerable discussion took place over Constable Tuohy's letter's and it waa resolved on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Bradbury, That the Clerk write to Constable Tuohy asking for a detailed account of the expenses incurred, and informing him that this Board is not satisfied with Stawell's account. Alao, that the Clerk write to the Charitable Aid Board as to the legality of this Board's paying Dr Johnston's account. Besolved, That the Clerk call for tenders for the office of poundheeper and ranger for tbe ensuing year. Proposed by Mr Williams, seconded by Mr Bell, That the Clerk try and arrange j with someone to attend to the man Neal as he is totally unable to attend to himself. Cost not to exceed 103 per week. Accounts to the amount of £20 5s 5d were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned. '
