HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
Monday, September 7. The Palmerston North Hospital Bill was read a first time. A protracted debate ensued on the third reading of the Government Loans to Local Bodies' Bill, the Opposition objecting to it on account of the power it conferred on the Goyernment to spend £'50,000 a year in opening up land. The Bill was then read a third time, and passed after a lengthy debate. The P6sfcunaster«Gei eal moved the second reading of the Post Office Acts Amendneat Bill; which, he said, contamed the proposals for a penny postage as set forth in the Financial Statement. The second reading was eartied by 26 lo 4. The House rose at 2 a.m.
