Volunteer Items
The Manchester Rifles will parade at the Barracks for -drill and inspection on Thursday next at 7.30 p.m. At the last meeting of the Palmerston North Rifles efficient badges were presented to several members of the corps, as follows :— Sergts. Relf and Key 9, silver star each for nine years' service; Sergts. Kiriven and Scott, two silk stars each for six years' service ; Sergt. Oliphant, Coi-porals Manning and Tanner, and Privates Bogan, Hartley, Max, G. Smith, and J. Shrumka, one star each for three years' service. The Palmerston men commenced their class firing to-day.
