Horticultural Society

♦ The annual meeting of the above was held in the office of the Secretary, Mr E. Goodbehere last night. . Messrs Lethbridge (chairman) W. Fowles, Goodbehere, Kirton, Weightman, and S. Knight, were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary read the balance-sheet, showing the transactions of the year, viz, the Spring, Autumn, and Chry.-anthenum shows, wli h had resulted in a deficiency of £7 13s Id. This was reduced by donations from Messrs H. Worsfold, Weightman, and Fowles, who returned the prizes • they won at the Chrysanthemun show, tb £5 3s Id— at which it now stands. The balance-sheet was adopted. A letter waa read from Mrs H. Bennett of Awahuri, in which that lady tendered special prizes for the Spring and Autumn shows. Several gentlemen present stated they had special prizes for the next threeshows. Resolyed, That the Spring show be held on the last Wednesday in November, the Autumn show on the first Wednesday in March, 1892, aud the Chrysanthemun show on Wednesday, April 24th,- 1892. The following officers were then elected for the year : — F. Y. Lethbridge. President; H. L, Sherwill, S. R. Turner, VicePresidents; Committee, Messrs W. andF. Fowles, I. Churcher, E. A. Barton, J. Elliot, T. R. Uhamberhan, G. Kirton, S. Knight, T. Hall, H. and E. Worsfold, Weightman (2), J. Oke. Mr E. Goodbehere, Secretary and Treasurer; Schedule Committee, Messrs Henry Worsfold, E. A. Barton, H. L. SherwiU, to report on the 24th of August, >• Resolved, That a hearty vote of thanks be passed to the Secretary, Mr-E. Ocodbehere for hiß valuable seryices during the past year. A yote of thanks to the Chairmaa closed the proceedings.
