HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. Wellikoton, July 30. On the motion of Mr George Hutchison, the Indecent Advertisements Bill was read a second time. Mr George Hutchison then moved the second reading of the Gaming and Lotteries Bill, to suppress improper pastimes and to regulate the use of lotteries. Mr Rees' Legislative Council Bill was considered in Committee, and leave given to the Committee to sit again in a week. July 81. Replying to questions it was stated — That the Government recognised the absolute necessity of a change being made in the licensing laws, but there was no chance of legislating this session. The Auctioneers Bill was read a third time and passed. The Hon. Mr McKenzie moved the seeo:ad reading of the Selectors Lands Re-valuation, Continuance, and Amendment Bill. The second reading of the Bill was agreed to on the voices. The Hon. Me Cadman moved the second reading of the Counties Act Amendment Bill. It was, he said, the most radical introduction in which was the one-man-one-vote system. If they should eventually agree to perpetuate plural voting he hoped they would not allow a person to have more than two votes. The Bill was read a second time on the voices, and referred to the Waste Lands Committee.
