Feilding R. M. Court

— . — + This Day. (Before His Worship the Mayor, and Mr J. C. Thompson, J.P.s.) NEGLIGENT DRIVING. John Martin was charged, on the information of Edward Smith, with negligently driving a coach on the Kimbolton road on the 26th of June last. Mr Sandilands appeared for the informant. The defendant;, who pleaded not guilty, conducted his own case. Edward Smith gave evidence of the defendant running into his trap with a four-horse coach, the former of which was damaged to the extent of 20s or 255. Witness was cross-examined by the defendant. The defendant said it was the informant's own fault through not being an experienced driyer. James Norman deposed to seeing plaintiff's horse jamned into the fence. The Bench were satisfied an offence had been committed, and fined defendant 20s and costs, with solicitors' fee and witnesses expenses — total £3. Mr Norman said he would not claim expenses.
