Apits Notes
Our long spell of fine weather seems to haye left us at last, as it has been showery now for a week ; but I suppose we must be satisfied for we haye had ther finest weather during the last two months ihat we have had for a long time. I see a Duneditt firm are now delivering their fruit trees in this district, of which they received orders for some thousands. I think it is rather rough on the local gardeners that all this money should be sent out of the district. There is not much of the " stipport of local industry "in that ; but it would seem as if the settlers are awakening to the importance of the fruit industry. The contractors for the felling of Mr J. Meehan's bush are pushing along with their, work, and several other parties as well. There was Church Service held in the Block for the first time last Sunday by the Rev. Mr Birke, of the Wesleyan Church, Birmingham. I believe he intends to pay us a visit here every month in the future. I Messrs Miller Bros, have made a very i good sheep dip of concrete and they have also erected two very nice cottages lately.
