The United States cruiser Charleston has arrived at the Peruvian porfc jf Callao., Her officers report they have failed to find any trace of the steamer Itata. It is believed that the Mexican authorities were frightened by the presence of the Chilian insurgent warship Esmeralda in the port of Acapulco, and thus permitted her to coal. The insurgents threaten to bombard Valparaiso, .but it is expected the Uuited States, Great Britain, and other powers will' step in to prevent it. '' May 30. ItasTeported that the Chilian vebel steamer Itata, after which the -TJui ted ■ States cruisor had a fruitless chase, is making the voyage to Melbourne.
