We are reliably .informed that the Government will be confron ted ' with a direct no-confidence motion immediately after the meeting of Parliament. The motion will, it is said, take the^. following shape :— " That this House is not satisfied with the Ministry; as- at<-present constituted." Such a motion would necessarily receive tbe support of -the : whole strength of the Opposition, for it goes without saying that that party is' not satisfied with the liersownel of the Ministry, whether collectively or individually. It is believed that it would also be supported by some members who are usually regarded ns belonging to the same school of politics as the Government. As a matter of fact, the Government party held no caucus about the choice of the members of the Cabinet ; indeed the party, as a party, was not consultsd at all about the selection of the Ministers. The whole business was decided without the knowledge of the -majority of the members of the' party, and the first intimation they got of it was the publication of the names of tbe new Ministry in the papers. — Wellington Press.
