Meeting of Creditors

A meeting of creditors in the estate, of C. L. Wildbore was beld in the Court House s here, on Thursday last* The Official Assignee, G. «L Scott, Esq., presided. Messrs W, G. Haybittle, S. J, Thompson and P. Thomson were present; as creditors. The liabilities and assets are as follows :— Unsecured creditors— W. G. Haybittle, £46 17s 6d ; S." J. Thompson, £55 13s lid; J. Total, £6. .-•.•■• Thedebtoi 1 was duly sworn, and deposed that he had a legacy left him at Home by an aunt; did not know the exacfc amount \ had written Home for information ; had received no answer ; had received about £570 ; belieyed there was a balance coming to him ; received £370 in November, 18S8 ; thought he got'the £200 about two years before 1888 ; in about October of the year 1888, gave a power of attorney to a solicitor in London to get the balance ; there was, he heard from Mr Hanna, of the Bank of New Zealand, soine informality had attended the power of attorney, and the Inland Be venue at Home had refused to stamp the document; had a lettei? from his brother's wife at Home, admitting more money was coming to hinij but the sum was not mentioned ; had never seen a copy of the will; was now living on a section at Taonui, he bought it, but his son found the money ; bought it before the £200 came; bought it in his own name, but it was now in the name of his son ; the transfer was made three years ago; between the time he bought it and the time he transferred it, had received money from England ; Had paid his eldest son £30; that is the only money he had paid him; had no work and they (his children) were keeping him and lenfc him money fr.im time to time ; had £300 left after paying his creditors at the end of 1888 ; not including his son ; £150 he pkctd to the credit of his wife in the Bank of New Zealand, and £150 he kept himself, still owing his sons money ; the the land is in the name of hi* second son, John ; did not ov.e him anything ; when he took the land, he (wiiness) owed his son £80 or £90; John built the househis son bought all the material ; he (witness) bought the wire from Mr Haybittle to fence his son's section; bought 24 sheets 9 feet iron from Mr Peter Thomson, which is also on his son's place there are about 50 acres leasehold for 16' years, rent £10 a year; has no stock; what stock he had, sold to live on ; never had more than one cow ; the stock on the place belongs to his son; the horse and trap belong to Mrs Wildbore; his wife has an account in the Post Office Savings Bank; expects more money when his mother dies.
