Mr Joseph Greenwood, who contested the Eden seat at the recent election, was found dead on his farm at Mount Koskill this morning. He went out with a gun, saying he wus going to catch the horse, and was found shot through the head. Death was instantaneous. He leaves a wife and ten children. It was a case of suicide. Dunkdin, April 29 Anevent occurred at Knox Church this morning which caused a painful sensation. Just as service had commenced William Wilson, shoemaker, was taken ill and died as he was being assisted out. Wellington, April 27 Dun cm ivlcDoueall, sheep farmer, was drownel in Lower Wairarapa lake, while wild duck shooting, by the upsetting of a punt. This Day. It is probable Sir George Grey will proceed from Adelaide (where he is at present) to England, on a visit. This step is understood to be in deference to a wish of Sir George's friends 4t Home. An old Maori woman, Piri Koutiri, 87 years old, mother of James Wallace, butcher, Otaki, was accidently burned to death this morning. She slept near the fire, and it is supposed her bed-clothes caught fire, no one else was in the whare. At the R.M. Court this morning, on the case of manslaughter against Captain Falconer being called, Mr Coates, counsel for the prosecutrix, Mrs Heighton, said he did not intend to offer any evidence, and the case was dismissed. , .• . ■
