In the eyening the Mayor o Adelaide gave a banquet in honor of Si George Grey, and Mr John Forrest (Pre mier of Western Australia), who calle< on his return to Parliament. The gather i ing was largely attended, and was a mos brilliant affair. The Chief Justice, L. J Way, Liet-Governor, presided. Solomon, proprietor of the tobacconis shop which was raided by the polic recently, was fined £250, in default ( months imprisonment, for being thi keeper of a gaming house. Three othe persons were fined nominal amounts, an< the charges against the others were dis missed. Government has accepted the tender o a local firm at £300,000 for the manufac ture of locomatives. On her arrival here the P. and 0. Com pany's Britania was quarantined, owinj to there being chicken pox on board. Sydney, April 13 Mr W. Bradley, Protectionist and anti Federalist, was elected for East Sydney ' to-day, and Mr W. Grahame, Protection ist and Republican, for Newcastle. Melboubnk, April 14. It is estimated that the loss on th Victorian Railways for the year endec 30th June will amount to £300,000, whicl the Commissioners partly attribute to thi strike.
