Special Settlements
(PES PBESS ASSOCXATIOK). Wellington, April 15. A return prepared by direction of the Minister of Lands, treating with Wellington special settlements, shows that, there were 263 original selectors who took up land under special settlements conditions, deferred payment,, perpetual lease, and small grazing runs; Of these only 171 retain iahd, the remaining 92 having completed the transfer. Ninety- , four of the selectors reside on the land,. 19 holding two sections each, and seven holding three sections ; 207 of the selectors have complied with the conditions of a the Act in regard to the area to be cultivated, 41 have not complied, . while 15---have done nothing in the way of improvements. In the Fedding special settlements, out of 51 selectors only 35 orginal remain, the others haying transfered. • Twenty- nine selectors are residing oh - the land, and 31. have complied with the regulations of the Act, 17 have not, while 13 have made no improvement. In cases ' where selectors have not complied with the terms of the Act their land is liable to forfeitui-p- :
