That Mr Tower's offer to cut a channel on' the Mangaone creek for the sum of £16, and to indemnify the Board against any loss, be accepted, to be oompleted within two months. — Carried. Downes', That the Engineer be instructed to make arrangements with Mr Enwright, for- opening a drain below his property in " Ashurst, ' providing Mr Enwright will indemnify ..the Board in case of damage owing to /construction of the drain. — Carried. Proposed by Mr G. Wheeler, seconded by D. Downes, That the member of the district be requested to use his best efforts, to obtain the Rates on 'Native Lands.— - Carried. . . , \ • Proposed by Mr G. Wheeler, seconded by Mr P.'T.. Lethbridge, That Mr J~. H, Anderson's tender 'to, clear and- stump Kimbolton road be accepted. — Carried. Proposed by Mr W. G. Pearce, seconded by Mr G. Wheeler, .That the reply to the petition from the settlers on Valley, and Midland roads, that -the Board -cannot undertake to do anything m the matter of the deviation of Valley Road at present, owing to the faqt that there are. other roads still unmade.Proposed by Mr. G. Wheeler, seconded by Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, That Mr Linton's tender for No. 1, Mr H. Behiendt's-, for No. 2, Messrs Heapy and Straw* bridge* for No. 3, contracts on McCrae's Road be accepted, conditional upon the agreement arrived at being signed by the. parties interested. — Carried. - Proposed by Mr G. Wheeler, seconded 1 by Mr W. G. Pearce, That the Engineer report on. the causes of the constant overflowing of the Makino across' the road near Mr Bell's saw-mill; and the best means to secure the road from such, injuries in the future.— Carried.
