THE BAND CONTEST.
TO THK EDITOR OF TH < STAN. . Sib, —"Would you allow me to point oat to you a certain remark made in your account of the Band Contest in last Tilesday's issue. I refer to the very large number of people who enjoyed the music outside " free, gratis and for nothing." I could name three or four people who, after having paid for admission at the doors, came out after a few minutes to " enjoy" the music outside, and no doubt there were more. Surely any true lover of music would enjoy such music outside the Assembly Booms rather than have their heads blown off, or the drums of their ears broken, inside. It is hardly fair to rebuke the public who were" outside, as no doubt there were many like myself ready with admission money to go in, but afterwards preferring the music outside. However, the public of Feilding and district ought to be very grateful for the splendid entertainment afforded them both "inside " and " outside " through the energy and pluck of the Feilding Band. Hoping I have not trespassed too much on your valuable space, I1 am, &c, R.P.W.
