Stanley proposes to make an extended lecturing tour in Australia, and sails for the colonies in October next. The first series will be delivered in Melbourne. The election for the vacancy for Astor Manor, caused by the death of Mr G. Kynock, took place to-day. Mr Hutchinson, the Conservative candidate, was returned, polling 5310, against 2332 by Mr Beale, the Home Rule nominee. Mr Parnell is not likely to resign his seat for Cork, but the seceders are making preparations for a fight. Lisbon, March 21. The House of Commons has voted a loan of ten million pounds on the security of the tobacco monopoly. Rome, March 20. The late Prince Napoleon's will appoints his youngest son, Prince Louis to the succession. The Bonopartists, however, recognise the eldest son, Prince Victor. Berlin, March 20. The National Liberal Party has declared for Prince Bismarck. Belgrade, March 20. It is considered that ex- King Milan has developed symptoms of insanity. M. Garaschannie, who was accused by Milan with complicity in the murder of two women, has challenged his accuser to fight a duel. Valparaiso. March 20. The Congress of Chili will send a delegate to Paris in connection with the French interests in the Republic. Two-thirds of the inhabitants favour the insurgents, and it is anticipated the rebellion will end in a division of the country. New Yobk, March 21. At the first meeting convened in this city by Mr Parnell's delegates over 4000 dollars was collected in aid of the National League. . Calcutta, March 20. The Bill raising the age of consent in native marriages has been passed. v The Indian Budget shows a surplus of 2,750,000 rupees. Washington, March 21. Perrin, a Detroit millionare, ha 3 been kidnapped, and a ransom of thirty thousand dollars is demanded for his release.
