Company's circular . dated January 24th, reports ;— Hops. — Duringthe past month there . has been no alteration in the aspect of the market; continuance of' the wintry - weather checks brewing and the demand is .slow. Stocks being firmly held however.pnces maintain their level with but ; little alteration. We quote: — East and " mid Kent best Goldings 1890 £12 0s per •cwt; low and ordinary qualities, A£l 7s c and £9 0s per cwt ; weald of Kent, £8 8s •and £100 j. per cwt; Worcester, £9 Osand .fil 0s per cwt ; Fernham and Country, fine £9 0s and ±10 10s per cwt; Sussex, ±7 Osand ±9 0s per cwt. Cocksfoot Grass seed met a dull enquiry duringthe first quarter ofthe year, and prices tended downward, but in May stocks were appreciably reduced, and values com - menced to harden. The market was practically bare of stocks in June and July, but there was some speculative business transacted in new crop at from 45s and 48s per cwt. . This began to come to hand in August, but only a small pro- . portion found its way -into the market, where fine realised from 53s and 60s per cwt: During the remainder of the year, values . for fine descriptions ranged from 55s and 65s per cwt., but business was of a restricted nature, supplies being of * -small extent.*
