• By the Goyernment Gazette dated the 12fch instant, it is notified that cock pheasants, Californian quail, and hares may be taken or killed in the Wellington district, consisting of the Hutt, Wairarapa, Pahiatua, Oroua, and Manawatu, from May Ist to 31st July, both days inclusive. The licenses are fixed at 20s each, and licenses to sell game afc £5 each. The postmasters afc Feilding, Palmerston N., Ashurst, Woodville, Pahiatua, &c, are appointed to sign and issue the said licenses* Ifc now rests with the local branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society to appoint a Ranger for this district, whose duty ifc will be to stop the wholesale slaughter of hares which is now gcing on, by every "Tom, Dick and Harry," both by the aid of guns and hounds.
