Amateur Championship Meeting

The meeting under the auspices of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Associa tion aud Cyclists' Alliance opened to-day at the Domain Athletic Urounds. About 2000 persens were present, The weather was beautiful, the sport capital, aud the times excellent, the New Zealand Ama* teur record being broken iv many cases. The results of the championships were— .Threer-mile Walk — Burton, Auckland, 1 ; Cocks, Chnstchurch, 2 ; Peace, Auckland, 3. Time, 23inin 37 l-10th sec. 250 yds (flat)— McPherson, Sydney, t ; King, Wellington, 2; Sefton, Sydney, 3. Two others started. Won easily. Time, 24 3- 10 th sec. , High Jump— Hume, Wellington, sft 3in, t ; Lawne, Auckland, sft 3in, fHalf mile Flat— Wood, Christchurch, I 1 ;. Griersou, Chnstchurch, 2. One other starter. Time, 2unn. 120 yds Hurdles— Batger, Wellington, 1; Moir, Christchurch, 2; Owen, Auckland, 3. These were the only starters. Won easily. Tinie, 16 2- sth sec. Long jump— Upfill, Auckland, 1. The winner jumped 2.oft. 4m. in the contest, but subsequently, cleared 20ft. 9m, beating the New Zealand record. One Mile— Wood, Christchurch, 1; Corner, Sydney, 2 ; Grierson, Christchurch, 3.
